IOWA LAKES CROSS COUNTRY ADVANCES TO NJCAA
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two Iowa Lakes
Community College students will travel to Ina, Ill., later this
week to compete in the National Junior College Athletic
Association Cross Country Championships, hosted by Rend Lake
Community College.
This will be the
fifth year Iowa Lakes students have competed nationally.
“This should be a
great race for Tyler and Candace. They have been training extra
hard the past couple weeks, in hopes of dropping a few seconds
on their personal best times,” said Molly Struve, head cross
country coach. “This meet gives them the opportunity to run
against the other community colleges in the nation, as well as
those in our region. It will be a great experience for
them to build on for next year.”
The women will
compete in a 5K event while the men will run an 8K, both at Rend
Lake Golf Course in Whittington, Ill. The event will be on
Saturday, November 10, starting at 10 a.m. for the men with the
women following at 11 a.m. There will be an awards ceremony
following the meet at 1:00 p.m.
The Laker women’s
cross country representative is Candace Klepper, a freshman from
Terril, and the Laker men’s representative is Tyler Nolte, a
freshman from Sherburn, Minn.
Cross country is
open to both men and women at Iowa Lakes Community College. To
