GERMAN
DELEGATION LEARNS ABOUT WIND ENERGY AND TURBINE TECHNOLOGY
PROGRAM
A delegation of business representatives
visited Iowa Lakes Community College Thursday afternoon to learn
more about the Wind Energy and Turbine Technology program.
The German-American Chamber of Commerce of
the Midwest (GACCoM) organized the visit to Iowa Lakes,
following the statewide meeting on renewable energy held in Des
Moines earlier this week.
Representatives of two firms then traveled to
Estherville to learn more about the Iowa Lakes program. The
companies included Asmus (Asmus Arbeitsbuhnen und Hebezeuge GmbH
Co. KG) and DRTS (Deutsch Rotor- und Turm Service GmnH & Co.
KG.)
Two representatives of each company were
joined by two staff members of the German-American Chamber of
Commerce. Group members were greeted by instructor Craig Evert
and wind energy student Jesse Smith, along with other college
officials. They were given a quick tour of the Sustainable
Energy Education Center/Wind Energy and Turbine Technology
building, returning to the main Estherville campus for
discussions.
The visitors were generally interested in the
curriculum offered in the program and how the program is
responding to the industry. At the end of the meeting, the
company representatives had time to visit with numerous students
in the program. One topic that was popular: how to get a
summer internship in Germany.
