IOWA LAKES HOLDS 17TH ANNUAL JAZZ FESTIVAL
Iowa Lakes
Community College has announced the dates for its 17th
Annual Jazz Festival. It will be held Nov. 12-14. The
festival has been recognized to serve a valuable educational
purpose and offer an enjoyable experience for the students
of Iowa Lakes and members of the community.
“We are
especially excited to announce our performing artists this
year,” said Carol Ayres. “The guest artists will consist of
Scott Hesse, a guitarist from Chicago, who will join the
jazz trio of Joey Gulizia, a percussionist; Tony Gulizia,
vocalist and keyboardist; and, Andy Hall, bassist.”
On Monday,
Nov. 12, the guest artists will conduct workshops and
rehearsals for the Iowa Lakes vocal and instrumental
students.
Iowa Lakes
will host the traditional school clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The day will begin with a convocation at 9 a.m. in the
gymnasium of the Iowa Lakes Estherville campus. This
convocation, which is free and open to the public, will
feature Scott Hesse and the jazz trio.
Clinics for
high school and college students are scheduled to commence
at 10 a.m. and continue all through the afternoon. The
clinics are set to cover jazz improvisation, guitar,
percussion and bass. The afternoon will conclude with a
concert that will feature the guest jazz artists and the
Iowa Lakes Community College Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz
Ensemble.
An evening
concert will be held in the Lauridsen Theatre at the Lakes
Art Center in Okoboji at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for

The festival
will conclude with a convocation by the jazz artists in the
gymnasium of the Emmetsburg campus at 10 a.m. on Wednesday,
Nov. 14. This convocation is open and free to the public.
