IOWA LAKES AWARDS FIRST EVER HELDT MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP
Linda Heldt,
long-time Athletic Department Assistant at Iowa Lakes, lost a
hard fought battle with cancer in 2007. Throughout her years of
service to Iowa Lakes Heldt earned the respect and admiration of
numerous area coaches, officials, co-workers and
student-athletes.
The Heldt
Memorial Scholarship, established in 2007, is funded by the Iowa
Lakes Community College Foundation’s Linda Heldt Memorial Laker
Scholarship Golf Outing (formerly known as the Laker Scholarship
Golf Outing) as well as family and friends gifts. This
scholarship is awarded to a sophomore student-athlete from each
of the athletic programs at Iowa Lakes. Recipients must be
students who embody how Heldt believed student-athletes should
