LOCAL ARTIST’S EXHIBIT FEATURED AT RECEPTION

The Agribusiness Marketing Club of Iowa Lakes Community College is proud to announce a reception featuring artwork developed by an Emmetsburg woman.

Students in the club are inviting the public to attend a reception on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 9-11 a.m., to honor the work of Laura Blanchet. The reception will be held on the second floor of the Technical Education Building on the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes, 3200 College Dr.

Blanchet has produced four agriculture landscape paintings exclusively for the Agribusiness Marketing Club. The paintings represent the four seasons and depict rural landscapes which were originally photographs Blanchet had taken in Iowa and Nebraska.

During the public reception, a short program will be held at 10 a.m. featuring college officials and Blanchet, who will explain a bit of background information about each painting. Blanchet grew up on a farm in southern Iowa.

Refreshments will be served at the reception.

The acrylic paintings are on display on the second floor of the Tech Ed Building. Individuals who are unable to attend the reception are encouraged to stop by during college hours to view the paintings.
