CROSS COUNTRY COACH RESIGNS AT IOWA LAKES
Iowa Lakes
Community College is looking for a new cross country coach
following the resignation of current head coach Mike Nichols.
Nichols has been
the cross country coach since Iowa Lakes began offering cross
country in the fall of 2003.
While he’ll be
dropping his coaching duties, Nichols will remain at the college
as a Professor of Spanish.
"I’ve enjoyed my
time as a coach at Iowa Lakes," said Nichols, who has also
coached track and cross country at the high school level. "With
my kids growing up, I want to have time to spend with them and
the cross country program deserves a coach who can dedicate the
time necessary to make it as successful as possible."
Over the four
seasons, 23 Iowa Lakes Community College student-athletes have
advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association
Cross Country Championships. Student-athletes participate as a
team – and individually.
"The college has
appreciated the efforts Mike has put into establishing the sport
of cross country," said Troy Larson, athletics director. "The
athletic department will miss Mike, but we are glad he is
staying at Iowa Lakes."
The college is
currently advertising for the part-time position.
Cross country is
open to both men and women at Iowa Lakes Community College. To
