JENNINGS GAINS EXPERIENCE AT SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Jonathan Jennings
of Spencer is completing work toward his diploma in the Marine
and Small Engine program at Iowa Lakes Community College with a
summer internship.
Jennings is
working at Parks Marina in Okoboji through early July where he
is gaining valuable, real-world experience.
He started
classes in the fall of 2006. The internship is an
important segment of education prior to the awarding of his
diploma.
The one-year
Marine and Small Engine program is based on the Emmetsburg
campus of Iowa Lakes. Students are exposed to a wide range
of technology, business and education courses which prepares
graduates for employment in the industries of boats, personal
watercraft, snowmobiles, lawn mowers and small engines.
Students may also take a Mercury certification as well as
Johnson/Evinrude e-ssentials certification.
Iowa Lakes offers
more than 100 areas of study at its locations in Algona,
Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spencer and Spirit Lake. In
addition, the college provides training and retraining to
employees of area business and industry as well as continuing
education courses.
