HOUSEMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED

Iowa Lakes Community College is announcing the establishment of the Loyd (Bunny) Houseman Memorial Scholarship.

The Houseman family of Estherville wishes to memorialize Loyd, better know as Bunny, while benefiting Auto Technology students at Iowa Lakes Community College.

Bunny founded Houseman Oil Co. in 1946 which today has grown to include Riverside Sinclair, Estherville’s only full-service gas station, the 24-hour Cardtrol and Houseman Oil Fuel Delivery. Sons, Rick and Bob, today carry on the Houseman tradition of providing Estherville with the finest of vehicle services and fuel oil delivery needs.

Rick Houseman stated, "Dad was always involved in the fuel and auto repair businesses. Naturally his interest in cars led to a love of auto racing. We have established this scholarship not only to keep Dad’s memory alive, but to address a great need for qualified auto repair technicians in our industry."

Eligible candidates for this scholarship must be enrolled full time in the Iowa Lakes Auto Technology program and use the award for tuition, books and/or fees. Application deadline for this scholarship is April 1, 2007.
