CHILDREN’S CARNIVAL PLANNED FOR APRIL 1
Area children
will enjoy a carnival and parents will have a chance to learn
about improving their wellness at a ‘Children’s Carnival’
planned in Emmetsburg Sunday, April 1.
The carnival is
being sponsored by the ADN (Associate Degree Nursing) Club of
Iowa Lakes Community College.
It will
definitely be a fun time for everyone.
"We plan to have
‘inflatable devices’ for children to jump around in – we’ll have
lots of food, swimming and games to provide an all-around good
time for everyone," said Marly Stecker, President of the ADN
Club.
The Children’s
Carnival will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Smith Wellness Center
on the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes. A raffle will also be
held that day with gifts donated by several area businesses.
The ADN Club will
use this event as a fund-raiser to assist them in paying for a
review course which will help prepare them to be successful on
the official state test to achieve their Registered Nursing
license. Those who don’t have children and who would like to
donate to this effort may contact Marly Stecker at (712)
260-6391.
Cost for the
afternoon will be $5 per child. Admission will be free for
parents accompanying children, but there will be a $2 fee if
parents want to eat the planned meal. Tickets will be available
from ADN Club students and at the door the day of the carnival.
Raffle tickets will also be available in advance.
While the young
people are enjoying themselves, parents will have the chance to
get some health tips, take a blood pressure test; and learn
about healthy snack ideas.
Participants are
asked to enter through the Wellness Center doors. For more
information, contact Stecker at the number listed above.
