HEALTH EDUCATORS ATTEND CONFERENCE IN EMMETSBURG
Nursing and
health educators from throughout the Midwest will converge on
the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College next week
for a Health Educators’ Conference.
This is the third
time Iowa Lakes has hosted a conference of this type for
educators. The theme for the conference is: "Keys to ensuring
students success – ideas that work!"
"We have been
able to secure two outstanding presenters for the event," said
Bernadette Wise, Director of Nursing and Health Education for
Iowa Lakes. "Each will bring a distinctive curriculum to our
200-plus attendees."
On Thursday, June
14, Linda Caputi, MSN, EdD, RN, CNE, will address how to teach
critical thinking so that long-term retention occurs. She will
also present sessions on teaching in a clinical setting,
evaluating student performance and concept mapping. Caputi will
wrap up the day at a banquet at The Wild Rose Casino & Resort as
she addresses humor in the workplace and the value of humor in
reducing stress.
On Friday, June
15, Gail Baumlein, PhD, MSN, RN, CNS, will present how to reach
Generation Y students. She will also offer tips on dealing with
student issues of today. Using technology and active teaching
strategies in the classroom will also be part of Baumlein’s
presentation.
