IOWA LAKES ANNOUNCES RECRUITS FOR 2007-2008 MEN’S GOLF TEAM

Iowa Lakes Community College Golf Coach Dan Soper has announced the signing of three golf recruits for the 2007-2008 season.  Nick Skinner of Bronson, Max Koster of Breda and Nick Christensen of Mission, Texas, will join the Laker golf program this fall.

Skinner is coming off his senior year where he earned all Maple Valley conference honors, was sectional runner up medalist and led Lawton-Bronson to districts.

"Nick is very straight off the tee and has a very good short game," Soper said. "He has a great passion for the game and is the type of quality person I want to be part of our program."

Koster finished a great career at tradition-rich Carroll Kuemper High School under Coach Larry Clark, where he earned many golf honors including a state coed championship his junior year, district medalist and led his team to a 7th place finish his senior year at the Class 2A state championships.

"Max has a very good all around game and brings a winning attitude to our program," Soper added.  "I expect him to be a solid performer for us over the next two years."

Christensen prepped at Sharyland High School and Mission, Texas, where he was a four-year letter winner and finished in the top 10 individually in all tournaments his junior and senior year.

"Nick has a tremendous amount of talent and being able to play year round growing up has helped him immensely," Soper said.  "Nick’s family has ties to the Estherville and Lakes area and I am very pleased to have a player of his caliber join our program this fall.  He will make an immediate impact on Region XI men’s golf."

Skinner, Koster and Christensen will join a men’s program that had 31 match victories in 2006-2007 and finished 2nd in Region XI while qualifying four individuals for the NJCAA national tournament this spring in Scottsboro, Alabama.

"We have three of our national qualifiers back for their sophomore seasons and the addition of these three young men is making for an exciting time for our Laker men’s program," Soper said.  "They all have great family support. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to lead this group."

Nick Skinner is the son of Ray and Flo Skinner of Bronson and has enrolled in the Arts and Science Program; Max Koster is the son of Jerry and DeAnn Koster of Breda and will be enrolled in the Wind Energy and Turbine Technology program; and Nick Christensen is the son of Craig and Melanie Christensen of Mission, Texas, and is Zoology major.
