IOWA LAKES FOUNDATION HOSTS PALO ALTO SCHOLARSHIP GOLF OUTING IN AUGUST

Area golf enthusiasts are invited to attend the Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation's Palo Alto County Scholarship Golf Outing on Friday, Aug. 17.

The event features nine holes of play at the West Bend Golf & Country Club, a raffle, games, contests, silent auctions and door prizes that will help raise funds for scholarships for students from Palo Alto County.  Registration begins at 11 a.m. with shotgun start at noon. The event will include lunch from 11 a.m. - noon and a short awards program following play. Golfers wishing to play an additional round after the awards program may do so for $3.

"At last year's event over $12,000 was raised specifically for Palo Alto County resident scholarships at Iowa Lakes.  With the help of our area businesses and individuals we hope to raise as much - if not more - for our students this year," said Tom Brotherton, Emmetsburg Campus Executive Dean. 

He continued, "Scholarships are essential; many times it is the awarding of a scholarship that allows a student to achieve their dream of a higher education."

The Palo Alto Event Raffle offers two weekend Iowa get-away packages including lodging, gas card, entertainment venues and meal certificates.  Winning tickets will be drawn at the event; you need not be present to win.  First ticket drawn will receive a choice of packages; second ticket drawn will receive the remaining package. Raffle tickets are $10 each or 3 for $20 and may be purchased at the Iowa Lakes Emmetsburg campus, West Bend Golf & Country Club or by calling Katie Elbert, Iowa Lakes Events Coordinator, at 800-242-5106 ext. 4425. Tickets will be sold at the outing if the 250 ticket maximum sales have not been met.
