WAUKON STANDOUT TO PLAY BASKETBALL AT IOWA LAKES
Jeremy Winters of
Waukon will play basketball for coach Troy Larson and the Iowa
Lakes Lakers during the 2007-2008 season.
Winters, a 6’8",
300 pound center, played for Coach Eric Dettbarn at MFL-Mar-Mac
and averaged 16.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks during
his career. In the Upper Iowa Conference, Jeremy was a KCTN
athlete of the week and was a second team all conference
selection.
Winters has spent
the past two seasons as a member of NCAA Division II Upper Iowa
University team, under a red-shirt status his freshman season
and injured status the following season. He still has two years
of eligibility according to NCAA rules.
"We are pleased
to add Jeremy to the Iowa Lakes family. He is a big guy with
soft hands and is very skilled. He should be able to contribute
in the low block for us next year," said Coach Larson.
Jeremy is the son
of Roger and Chris Winters of Waukon, and will be enrolled in
the Associate in Arts degree program at Iowa Lakes.
