HOLLAND RECEIVES OUTSTANDING ALUMNI AWARD
Dana Holland of
Ottumwa received the Jim Hall Outstanding Alumni Award at Iowa
Lakes Community College’s spring commencement at the Estherville
campus on Friday, May 11.
In its 16th year,
this award is presented annually by the Iowa Lakes Alumni &
Friends Association to an alumnus who exemplifies outstanding
support for community, business, school and service clubs; and
is also a good representative of the college.
Holland, a 1993
graduate of the Iowa Lakes Health Care Administration program,
was nominated for the Jim Hall Award by his former professor
Marlene Donovan.
"Dana is a
dedicated and compassionate person who loves working with the
elderly," said Donovan in the nomination. "Hopefully, if any of
us face the difficult decision to place a loved one in a nursing
home, the Administrator will have all those good qualities that
Dana has."
As well as his
duties as a health care administrator in Ottumwa for the
Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, he has been a past
president and currently is the treasurer of the Iowa Health Care
Association. He serves as a member of the Washington, D.C.
based, American Health Care Association, and he has spent 17
years as a public policy specialist and universal problem solver
as the Director of Advocacy Services and Legislative Liaison
with the Iowa based Area Agency on Aging office in Spencer.
