PUBLIC INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN TRIO DAY 2007 - DONATIONS TO
THE TROOPS
Iowa Lakes
Community College TRiO Programs (Educational Talent Search,
Upward Bound and ASPIRES) are organizing an effort to collect
items for care packages to be sent to American troops that are
currently serving in the Middle East.
Care packages and
personal letters of support will be collected on each of the
five Iowa Lakes Community College campuses from Feb. 19- 23.
Collection boxes will be located at the front office of the
Algona, Spencer and Spirit Lake campuses as well as the TRiO
offices of the Emmetsburg and Estherville campuses.
This activity is
part of the National TRiO Day 2007- "A Chance to Give Back."
TRiO programs, nationwide are to perform some sort of community
service – as a way for TRiO to give back to their community and
say thank you for its support.
Students in each
of the programs: Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound and
ASPIRES will be donating and collecting items, and writing
letters of support as part of this effort. The general public is
invited to participate.
A complete list
of items requested by the troops will be posted at the
collection points. The types of items requested are:
non-perishable individually packaged foods and snacks, personal
cleaning items especially bar soap, batteries, reading material,
personal warming items, and personal entertainment items.
