IOWA LAKES SOFTBALL ANNOUNCES 2007-2008 RECRUITS

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach Mike Bosch has announced three Laker softball recruits for the 2007-2008 softball season. They include outfielder Donnette (Bubba) Martinez from Papillion, Neb.; infielder Caitlin Block from Burbank, Calif.; and infielder Kristina Manser from Granada Hills, Calif.

Martinez is a two time All-State selection, gaining Super State selection in 2005 and 2nd team All-State in 2006. She is also a two time All-Metro Conference selection while leading her Papillion LaVista South team to the state tournament each of the last two seasons. Martinez is also a member of the Echoes Renegades 18U softball team which participated in tournaments in Las Vegas (Nevada), Aurora (Colorado) and ASA 18U Nationals in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Martinez is the daughter of Tyrone and Donnette Martinez of Papillion, Neb., and will be enrolled in the general Arts and Science program.

Block was a 2006 All Division California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) selection after being a 2nd team selection in 2005. She is an elected officer of the California Scholastic Federation and has been awarded the Scholar Athlete award the last four years (given to those with GPAs higher than 3.5). Block has played for the So Cal Sliderz 18U team and is currently on the So Cal Aftershock 18U team.

She is the daughter of Charlene and Robert Block of Burbank, Calif., and will be enrolled in the general Arts and Science program.

Manser batted .486 for Granada Hills Charter High in 2005 and was also a 2nd team all city selection that season. She also plays on the So Cal Aftershock 18U travel ball team.

Kristina is the daughter of Steve and Deborah of Granada Hills, CA and will be enrolled in the general Arts and Science program.

"We were looking to strengthen our team up the middle and all three of these young ladies will do that," commented Coach Bosch. "They are all very athletic, all have a great deal of softball experience, and all fit into our system very well. We are excited to have them join our program next season."

The three join a Laker program that was 57-8 in 2006 and will return five players from that team for the 2006-2007 season. For more information on Iowa Lakes softball contact Head Softball Coach Mike Bosch at 712-362-7997 or go to the Iowa Lakes Web site at www.iowalakes.edu.
