WELLNESS CENTER POOL PASSES INSPECTION
An Inspector from
the Siouxland District Health Department visited the municipal
swimming pool at the Arthur and Audrey Smith Wellness Center,
recently and the pool passed its annual inspection.
The inspectors
are hired by the Iowa State Department of Public Health to
inspect both indoor and outdoor pools in the state of Iowa.
Inspections are done annually when pools are open for operation.
The inspector met with Angie Laubenthal, Aquatics Facilitator
for the Smith Wellness Center. During the inspection, the
quality of the water is checked as are the records of
maintenance and updates of state codes and regulations, as well
as safety and certifications of all personnel.
Wellness Center
staff was very pleased that the inspection went so well,
according to Laubenthal. The swimming pool is open for operation
continuously seven days a week. This means that it is open to
the public 15 ½ hours a day, 93 ½ hours a week and 4,488 hours a
year; very impressive considering the Wellness Center is
approaching its 10 year anniversary.
"The inspector
was impressed with Wellness Center staff for their organized
documentation on all water testing, incident/accident reports,
sanitation requirements, and filtration and recirculation
records," Laubenthal said.
