KAHLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED

Iowa Lakes Community College is announcing the establishment of the Mary J. Kahler Memorial Scholarship.

The Kahler family wishes to memorialize Mary J. Kahler while benefiting nursing students at Iowa Lakes Community College. Mary loved to travel, spend time with her family, raise flowers, garden and entertain her nieces and nephews at the farm she shared with her husband, Arthur, just northwest of Burt. She is also fondly remembered for enjoying a good discussion on politics. Kahler worked as a nurse for over 43 years in many positions including being instrumental in starting the Nursing program at Iowa Lakes Community College.

Eligible candidates for this scholarship must reside in Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth or Palo Alto counties and be enrolled full time in the Iowa Lakes Nursing program. The recipient must display financial need, possess and maintain a 2.5 GPA and use the award for tuition, books and/or fees. Application deadline for this scholarship is April 1, 2007.
