IOWA LAKES FOUNDATION HOSTS DINNER THEATRE
In conjunction
with the Lakes Community Theatre, the Iowa Lakes Community
College Foundation will be hosting an evening of fun and food on
Thursday, Feb. 22 when "Little Shop of Horrors" will be
performed in dinner theatre format at the beautiful Lakes Art
Center in Okoboji.
The play revolves
around Seymour Krelbour, a poor young man working at a rundown
flower shop on skid row, when he encounters a miracle. He
discovers an alien plant after a total eclipse of the sun. After
bringing the plant to the store, he gains fame, fortune and
love. The only defect is that the plant feeds on human blood.
Seymour and the plant make a deal that if the plant continues to
bring Seymour positive attention; he will in turn continue to
feed the plant human bodies. This new version of a classic
musical is based on the movie by the same title starring Steve
Martin, Rick Moranis and Bill Murray.
The evening will
begin at 6 p.m. with social time. The 6:30 p.m. dinner will be
catered by Sandan’s Catering in the Pomerantz Hall (lower
level). At 7:30 p.m., the play will begin in the Lauridsen
Performing Arts Theatre of the Lakes Art Center. Dinner menu
will consist of chicken breasts and pork loin, parsley potatoes,
cheese-hash brown casserole, green beans with almonds, dinner
salad, dessert and roll.
Tickets are $30
and reservations may be made by calling the LAC Box Office at
712-332-7029 and specifying the Feb. 22 Iowa Lakes Community
College Foundation Scholarship Benefit Evening. All proceeds
from the Feb. 22 performance will support music and art
scholarships for students at Iowa Lakes Community College.
