COLLEGE STUDENTS HELP AREA ORGANIZATION IN
ANNUAL EMMETSBURG DINNER
First-year
students in the Hotel and Restaurant Management program at
Iowa Lakes Community College are the recipients of $300,
thanks to the Emmetsburg Knights of Columbus.
The students
used November’s Fall Harvest Dinner in Emmetsburg as a
learning experience on how to serve a large number of
individuals in a short amount of time.
The Knights
of Columbus members of Emmetsburg sponsor the event and the
students prepare the food, enough for 600-700 people – most
of whom wish to eat at approximately the same time.
“We
appreciate you students and the work you do in that
program,” said Gerald Murphy, a member of the KCs, when the
check was handed over to the club. “This is a real deal for
us. We probably couldn’t do it anymore without you.”
Murphy also
expressed his appreciation to the people of Emmetsburg and
the surrounding area for supporting the event.
“We get good
attendance from the community,” Murphy said.
