KIBBIE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED AT IOWA LAKES

Iowa Lakes Community College is announcing the establishment of the Senator Jack and Kay Kibbie Family Scholarship.

Senator Jack and Kay Kibbie, long-time community college supporters from the Emmetsburg area, joined the Iowa Lakes Community College President’s Circle of giving this past winter. As a result of this partnership with Iowa Lakes, the Kibbies decided to utilize their President’s Circle gift by establishing this scholarship to support agriculture and nursing students.

"Senator Kibbie and his wife Kay realize the importance of educating Iowa’s students in agriculture programs and nursing," stated Shan Ray, Iowa Lakes Institutional Advancement Executive Director. "Agriculture and nursing graduates will play an even greater role in the future of Iowa as baby boomers begin to retire from these fields. Iowa must be prepared to fill positions to alleviate shortages in these areas."

Eligible candidates for the Kibbie Family Scholarship must be enrolled full time in any agriculture or nursing program at Iowa Lakes Community College. In addition, they must possess and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, display financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form and reside in Palo Alto, Emmet or Kossuth County.

Those interested in more information on scholarships or the Iowa Lakes President’s Circle should contact Shan Ray, Iowa Lakes Institutional Advancement Executive Director, at 712-362-0491 or 800-242-5106 ext. 4491.
