IOWA LAKES FOUNDATION GOLF OUTING BENEFITS CLAY RESIDENTS

The Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation held its annual golf outing on June 15 at the Spencer Golf & Country Club.  One hundred fifteen golfers hit the links to benefit Clay County residents with scholarships to attend Iowa Lakes.

Flight winners included – Flight 1: Kort Freeman, Bill Lapczenski, Todd Lundgren, Jack Nolan;  Flight 2: Marc Bruning, Dean Jacobsen, Bruce Klenken, Ron Mummert and Flight 3: Jon Hinderks, Pat Nalley, Bryan Sebastian, Donovan Wunschel. The “high score” team of Darin Moeller, Kris Moeller, Mike O’Hara and Molly O’Hara received “Drown Your Sorrows” beverage tickets along with gift certificates from Marv’s Steakhouse.

Flag contest prizes were awarded to Larry Harden hole 1 (closest to sand without going in); Tom Roti hole 2 (longest putt-men); Carla Fank hole 3 (longest putt-women); Donovan Wunschel hole 4 (closest 2nd shot); Becky LaBarre hole 5 (closest to pin in 1-women); Bryan Sebastian hole 6 (closest 3rd shot); Kathy Beachem hole 7 (longest drive in fairway-women); Mike O’Hara hole 8 (shortest drive-men); Bruce Groen hole 9 (closest to pin in 1-men); Ron Nissen hole 10 (longest putt men); Mike Peasley hole 11 (closest 3rd shot); Ken Norris hole 12 (closest 2nd shot); Mark Bedor hole 13 (closest to hole in 1); Todd Lundgren hole 15 (longest drive in fairway-men); Nicole Heng hole 16 (shortest drive-women); Scott Stokes hole 17 (closest to hole in 1-men); and Linda Helmers hole 18 (longest putt-women).

Raffle winner of the 2007 E-Z Go PDS electric golf cart, partially donated by Ken’s Auto & Golf of Emmetsburg, was Reynold Peterson of Spencer.

“We cannot begin to express our appreciation to the many golfers, donors and sponsors of this event,” said Kitty Conover, Spencer Campus Dean. “Over $13,000 was raised that will help Clay County students attain their dream of a higher education at Iowa Lakes Community College.  It was a wonderful day!”
