HUMOROUS KEYNOTE SPEAKER SECURED FOR SENIOR FUN AND WELLNESS DAY

A speaker has been selected as the keynote presenter for the 20th annual Senior Fun and Wellness Day in Emmetsburg.

Pat McGill inspires audiences to improve attitudes, adapt to change, appreciate different behavior styles, develop leadership and work as part of a team. Humorous, yet substantive, McGill engages all types of people to effect positive change. By encouraging the human heart, she helps people grow personally and professionally.

McGill is a college professor, author, speaker and trainer. She travels throughout the country and delivers high energy presentations for ‘real’ people about ‘real’ life. McGill is based out of the Lakes area and has been a popular speaker throughout the region.

McGill will open the Senior Fun and Wellness day which will be in the cafeteria/student center of the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College on Wednesday, May 16.

Senior Fun and Wellness Day is held annually and features a day of activities, health screenings, workshops and entertainment.

As always, the event will also feature a plethora of concurrent sessions. Sessions range from Health and Wellness to Butterfly Gardens. There will also be sessions on: Antiques; Foot Care; Identity Theft; Blackjack; Investment Fraud; Whole Brain Workouts; Habitat for Humanity; Travel to Ireland; Gambling Help; Quick, Healthy Meals for One or Two; Cancer Prevention; Health/Exercise; and many more.

Again this year, there will be no preregistration. However, there will be a $5 fee at the door to cover the event which includes continental breakfast and a lunch featuring Italian cuisine.

"This is our 20th year for the event," said co-chair Kathy Merrill from Palo Alto County Health System. "We are so lucky to have Pat McGill. She’s such a dynamic, exciting speaker who brings a lot of humor to her presentation. So grab a friend or neighbor and come for a great day of fun – and food – including an Italian cuisine luncheon."

All participants are encouraged to park in the main, northeast parking lot and enter the college through entrance ‘1’ and then follow the signs.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. with registration, wellness & resource information, coffee and continental breakfast. The keynote speaker will begin at 9 a.m., in the cafeteria/student center.
