COFFEEHOUSE/DONKEY BASKETBALL TEAM UP FOR EVENING OF FUN AND ENTERTAINMENT

It’ll be an evening of fun and entertainment this week as Iowa Lakes Community College wraps up the college year and ‘teams up’ with two different activities on the same evening.

On Thursday, May 3 at 5:30 p.m., the Iowa Lakes Music Department will have their final coffeehouse of the year.  The coffeehouse will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the Music Club serving a taco dinner as a fundraiser. The coffeehouse and taco dinner will be held in the student center (The Max) on the Estherville campus. Cost for the taco dinner will be $3 for one taco and drink and $2 for a second taco.

There is no admission fee for the coffeehouse and the public is invited to come and enjoy an evening of live music. Please note this coffee house has an earlier start time than normal due to the Iowa Lakes Criminal Justice Club fundraiser.

Following the coffeehouse on Thursday, the Criminal Justice Club will be sponsoring a Dairyland Donkey Basketball show in the gymnasium of the Estherville campus starting at 7 p.m. The show has been called the “Craziest Show on Earth” and will feature three donkey basketball games.

Teams will consist of the Iowa Lakes Criminal Justice Club, members of the Iowa National Guard, officers from the Estherville Police Department, and the Iowa Lakes administration.  The teams will compete against each other in basketball games while riding donkeys.

The first game will be between the Iowa Lakes administration and the Iowa Lakes Criminal Justice Club. Game two will feature the Iowa Army National Guard versus the Estherville Police Department. The third game of the evening will be the championship game. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Estherville Radio Shack or the Estherville campus Business Office for $5 or $7 at the door. Preschool are admitted free.

The funds raised by this event will assist the Estherville police department in the purchase of a K-9 dog. For any questions on the basketball event, please contact Alex Leu at 712-362-7986.
