JACK KENT COOKE FOUNDATION
ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS
ATTENDING IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Students at Iowa Lakes Community College who are
looking at transferring may want to apply for a
scholarship which is open only to community
college students.
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has opened the
nomination process for the largest scholarships
available to students and recent alumni from
community colleges. Through the initiative,
called the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship
Program, the private foundation will award up to
$30,000 annually per recipient to help students
and recent alumni from community colleges pursue
four-year degrees at any accredited college or
university in the United States and abroad.
Awards will provide funding for tuition, room
and board, required fees, and books for the
length of the undergraduate degree, generally
two years. Each award can total up to $30,000
annually, though the amounts will vary based on
such factors as the cost of the institution each
recipient attends.
Through the program, the Foundation plans to
award approximately 30 scholarships in spring of
2006 for use during the 2006-2007 academic year.
It will renew each award in subsequent years
based upon student performance.
Candidates for the scholarship must be nominated
by the representative at their community
college. At Iowa Lakes Community College, the
contact is Shan Ray, Executive Director of
Institutional Advancement. She can be reached by
phone at (712) 362-0491; or via e-mail at sray@iowalakes.edu.
All application materials must be received in
the Institutional Advancement Office by January
13, 2006.
The list of application materials is available
on the Foundation’s Web site,
www.jackkentcookefoundation.org, or by calling
1-800-498-6478.
The Foundation is a private, independent
foundation established in 2000 by the estate of
Jack Kent Cooke to help young people of
exceptional promise reach their full potential
through education.
