EVENING/WEEKEND CHILD CARE PROGRAM PROPOSED
BY IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR AREA
RESIDENTS
A
new twist to a current Iowa Lakes program is
being proposed for interested area residents.
Individuals interested in working toward their
Child Care diploma and an associate degree in
Early Childhood Education on evenings and
weekends should plan to attend one of two
meetings in mid-December. There continues to be
a need for educated staff in early childhood
settings such as child care centers and family
child care homes.
Informational meetings are scheduled for:
Tuesday, Dec. 13, 7 p.m., Spencer Campus, 1900
N. Grand Ave. STE 8
Thursday, Dec. 15, 7 p.m. Algona Campus, 2111
U.S. Hwy 169 N.
College staff will be present at each meeting to
explain more about the proposed evening/weekend
program, answer questions of those attending and
assist potential participants with everything
from possible financial aid (and scholarships)
to the registration process. Meetings are
expected to be completed within one hour.
T.E.A.C.H. scholarships could be available for
qualified applicants who are currently working
in the early childhood profession.
It is possible that the college will launch the
program in the spring.
Individuals with questions prior to the open
informational meetings may call Kitty Conover,
Spencer Campus Dean, at 1-877-807-9585; or Trudy
Kattner, Algona Campus Dean, at
1-877-807-9583.
