IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE RECEIVES GRANT
FOR NURSING INSTRUCTORS
Iowa Lakes Community College has been awarded a
grant to encourage nursing instructors to stay
in education.
Nearly $50,000 in grant funds was received from
the Iowa Department of Public Health to
coordinate nursing faculty orientation and
retention plans for community colleges across
the state of Iowa. This partnership grant will
provide the seed money to pilot nursing faculty
orientations for Iowa Lakes clinical and
classroom adjunct faculty in January and then
expand the program to a two-day Nurse Educator
101 training new nursing faculty across the
state next summer. Stipends will be provided for
up to two nursing faculty per community college
to attend the summer workshop.
In addition, grant funds will sponsor
institutional registrations for four ‘National
League for Nursing’ Web-seminars. This project
is to assist novice nursing faculty during the
transition from a nurse clinician to a nurse
instructor.
