Mary Mohni, the Executive Dean at the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College for the past three years, has been named as the new Chief Academic Officer of the college. She succeeds Dr. Rick Underbakke who has resigned to advance to a college presidency in Kansas.

“I look forward to assuming the duties of the Chief Academic Officer,” said Mohni.  “Iowa Lakes has an excellent reputation of providing quality educational programs.  It is a pleasure to be associated with this organization.”

Mohni came to Iowa Lakes in January of 2003, from Northwest Iowa Community College where she served as an administrator and instructor for 14 years. Prior to that, she worked at hospitals in Spencer, Primghar and Hartley.

“Iowa Lakes is fortunate to have quality senior leadership on our team that allows us to implement a succession plan of this nature,” said Dr. Mike Hupfer, President of Iowa Lakes.

Mohni received her nursing education from Briar Cliff University and St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City. She was awarded a bachelor’s degree in human services from Buena Vista University and a master’s degree in public health administration from the University of Minnesota.

She will assume her new duties Dec. 1.
