An Iowa Lakes Community College student is the
recipient of a gift that will help him while he
furthers his education.
Eric Hankey, Emmetsburg, a student in the Motorcycle
and Small Engine Technology program at the
Emmetsburg Campus, was recently notified of a $500
cash donation to be used toward Snap-On Tools which
will be used in his field of study.
Hankey received the gift from the Algona Harley
Owners Group (HOG) Chapter at their annual Christmas
party. The majority of the funds ($300) was raised
by the group at the 2005 ABATE Rally in Algona.
Also, a $100 donation was given by Lynn Beenken, the
local Snap-On sales representative. And, another
$100 was given anonymously.
Hankey was one of five students who applied for the
donation. He was selected based on a letter he wrote
on why he should receive the funds. Previously, he
graduated from the Auto Collision and Paint
Technology program. In addition, he was a student in
the Auto Collision and Paint Technology Career
Academy program receiving high school and college
credit while he was enrolled at Emmetsburg High
School.
Hankey is the son of Roger and Darlene Hankey of
Emmetsburg.
