DORMS PLANNED FOR SPENCER AND ESTHERVILLE
AT IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community
College took action at their meeting Tuesday
afternoon to add dormitories in Estherville and
Spencer. The Trustees approved plans to build
two, four-plex dorms in Spencer and add two
additional four-plex dorms to the housing
complex in Estherville. The space is needed in
Estherville due to high occupancy rates at the
campus. In Spencer, surveys indicate additional
students would attend the Spencer Campus of Iowa
Lakes if dorms were available.
Also during the meeting (which was held by
telephone due to the inclement weather) Dr. Rick
Underbakke, Chief Academic Officer, was released
from his contract early so he could accept a
presidency with another college. (See
News Release.)
In other business, an early retirement plan for
the coming college year was endorsed. And, the
Trustees approved a change order for
miscellaneous upgrades on the second floor of
the Technology Education Center in Emmetsburg
amounting to just over $2,500.
The next meeting of the Iowa Lakes Board of
Trustees will be Tuesday, Dec. 13 in
Estherville.
