ABBOTT PUBLISHES GENETIC RESEARCH WORK
An adjunct instructor at Iowa Lakes Community
College has been published for his work on
genetic research.
Matthew Abbott received his doctorate in
genetics from Iowa State University. Research
there led to a recent publication entitled
“Ectopic HOXA5 expression results in abnormal
differentiation, migration and p53-independent
cell death of superficial dorsal horn neurons”
[Developmental Brain Research 159(2005)87- 97].
This work contributed to a better understanding
of spinal cord development.
Dr. Abbott is currently teaching Human Anatomy
and Physiology at Iowa Lakes Community College
at both the Algona and Spencer Campuses.
