IOWA LAKES SOFTBALL SIGNS PAIR OF OUTFIELDERS
FOR ‘06
Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach
Mike Bosch has announced the signing of
outfielders Nancy Hilbers of Cedar Rapids and
Ashley Souphimdara. of Brandon, S.D., to NJCAA
national letters of intent.
Hilbers was the starting centerfielder on Cedar
Rapids Jefferson’s state runner up team last
season which compiled a 50-3 record. She was a
special mention all state selection, honorable
mention all conference, and a 2nd team Cedar
Rapids All-Metro selection last season. Hilbers
batted .338 for the J’Hawks and has helped them
to an amazing 102-4 record over the last two
seasons.
Hilbers is the daughter of Bryan and Susan and
intends to pursue a career in mathematics.
Souphimdara has been on a number of travel ball
teams as well as the Brandon Valley High School
team. As a part of the summer travel team of the
Stingers, she has played in numerous national
tournaments qualifiers and the South Dakota
state tournament.
Souphimdara is the daughter of Carol Souphimdara
of Brandon and intends to pursue a career in
fitness training.
“Both are very solid players that will greatly
enhance our program next year,” commented Coach
Bosch. “They are very different, but they both
have attributes that make them very valuable on
the field. Hilbers with her experience and
overall ability and Souphimdara with her speed
and slapping* ability make our outfield
stronger.”
The two join a Laker program that went 45-17
last season and finished as Region XI runner up.
