COLLEGE TO HOST FIRST-EVER LAKER HEALTH CONFERENCE

A victim of a terrorist hijacking will be the keynote speaker at the first-ever Laker Health Conference scheduled at The Inn at Okoboji for June 9 and 10.

Jackie Pflug was shot execution style in the head during a terrorist attack on Egypt Air Flight #648 - and survived. Jackie will share her story about the experience and subsequent recovery.

The conference, sponsored by Iowa Lakes Community College and area businesses, will benefit Nurses, Physical and Occupational Therapists alike. Up-to-date information will be presented in each of the respective fields with the opportunity to earn up to 15 hours of continuing education credit through Iowa Lakes Community College.

“This experience is expected to be a remarkable medium to network with fellow peers from across Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota as well as enjoying the Iowa Great Lakes area with their families,” said Rosemary Coleman, Continuing Education Health Programmer. Nurses, Physical and Occupational Therapists are encouraged to take advantage of the “early bird” registration by May 20 and receive two free independent study credits to increase the personal number of continuing education hours.

Rooms will be available at The Inn at Okoboji at a reduced rate and attendees are encouraged to call The Inn directly to make reservations which must be made by May 5 to take advantage of the discount. The telephone number of The Inn is 1-877-265-4386.

Each participant will receive a welcome bag filled with vital information, product samples and valuable coupons that can be used in the Lakes area.

Jackie will also be speaking on June 9 at Village West. Tickets are available to the public for her presentation and can be obtained by calling the number below. Please refer to course number 39855P. (No Continuing Education Hours given.)
