LAKER MEN HAVE ‘GOOD
DAY’ AT GOLF NATIONALS
The Iowa Lakes Community College students
playing in the National Junior College
Athletic Association’s Division II golf
tournament in Scottsboro, Ala., had their
lowest scores so far of the four-day
tournament on Thursday.
Kent Schroeder of Mapleton shaved 10 shots
off his score Wednesday and shot a 75
Thursday. Niel Riedemann of Melvin continues
to improve each day shooting a 76 Thursday.
“Both Kent and Niel played pretty well
today,” said Coach Dan Soper. “The biggest
difference from the two previous days was
their putting. The speed of their putts was
much better and they hit the ball fairly
solid all day.”
Kent shot a 37 on the front nine and a 38 on
the back nine. His total three-day score is
237. Niel had 36 strokes and 40 strokes
respectively and his three-day total is
two-strokes lower than Kent – with a total
of 235.
The weather was great for golf on Thursday
with 80 degrees and winds around 10 miles
per hour, according to Coach Soper.
The Laker men are expected to have early tee
times on Friday for the final round.
The NJCAA Men’s Division II Golf
