LAKER MEN COMPLETE FIRST ROUND AT GOLF
NATIONALS
The Iowa Lakes Community College students
who are participating in the National Junior
College Athletic Association’s Division II
golf tourney are sitting in the middle of
the pack after completing their first round.
Kent Schroeder of Mapleton shot a 77 and
Niel Riedemann of Melvin shot an 81.
“Both came out a little nervous on the front
side, but settled down on the back nine,”
said Coach Dan Soper. Kent shot a 39 and a
38 while Niel had a 43 on the front nine and
matched Schroeder’s 38 on the back nine.
“Kent had a couple bad swings and didn’t
putt well so his score was up a bit,” Coach
Soper said. “Niel said he had a couple bad
swings that really cost him on a couple
holes. Both are real up beat and looking
forward to the rest of the week.”
The weather was 85 degrees with winds of
10-20 miles per hour, according to Coach
Soper.
Wednesday, Niel will tee off at 11:03 a.m.
while Kent’s tee time is 11:21 a.m.
