IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION HOLDS
ANNUAL RETREAT
The Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation held
its annual retreat on Monday, April 25.
Recognized were retiring directors John McFadden
and Verlyn Vedder of Estherville and Dr. James
Coffey of Emmetsburg. The foundation welcomed
new directors Norma Beaver of Estherville; Brian
Buscher of Algona and Joan Tunnicliff of
Emmetsburg.
Other directors include President Doug Lago;
Treasurer Hugh Greig; Bob Jensen, Jan Lund, Jim
Tholkes, and Harold White of Estherville; Vice
President John Rahn and Tom Manley of Spencer;
Don Schiltz and Jim Crane of Algona; and Kirt
Carstens of Arnolds Park.
The foundation was originally established as the
Iowa Lakes Housing Foundation in 1982. In 1996
it evolved into the Iowa Lakes Community College
Foundation as known today. The purpose of the
Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation is to
secure friends and funds essential to advance
the mission, vision and awareness of Iowa Lakes
Community College. The foundation annually hosts
several scholarship fundraising events including
four golf outings, a luau, motorcycle poker ride
and a dinner theater that directly benefit Iowa
Lakes Community College students.
The foundation accepts monetary gifts from
individuals and businesses through the “We
Believe In Us” Annual Giving Program for Iowa
Lakes Community College scholarships, programs
and the betterment of the college. Several
endowed and immediate need scholarships are
administered through the foundation and awarded
annually. In-kind gifts of tangible goods are
also accepted. Past in-kind gifts have included
property, cars, boats and trailers, agricultural
products, sheet music and many other items.
