CAMPUS FEATURED AT BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING
Students from the Spirit Lake Campus of Iowa
Lakes Community College were featured at a
meeting of the Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes
on Tuesday.
Three students addressed the Trustees. They
included Andrea Devall an Associate in Arts
transfer student; Jamie Boehm, a Business
Administration student; and Kyle Warrier, a
nursing student. The students talked about the
benefits of having educational opportunities
available nearby and what they like about
college.
In other business, the Trustees approved the
completion of paperwork for the purchase of
Gateway North Center in Spencer by giving the
go-ahead to the sale of delivery of Certificates
of Participation and other related matters. In
addition, they set a public hearing for June 21
for a Capital Loan Note for purchasing an
airplane and upgrade of the computer network.
Also, a public hearing was held during the
meeting to replace heating and ventilation units
at the Emmetsburg Campus. The Trustees voted to
refuse all submitted bids and review
alternatives to lower the costs of the rooftop
units.
In other business, the Trustees approved two
change orders – one to complete the Criminal
Justice Center at the Estherville Campus; and
the other for the Technology Education Center on
the Emmetsburg Campus. And, the Trustees set
June 21 for a public hearing and bid
presentation on plans to complete the exterior
of the Algona Campus.
The next meeting of the Iowa Lakes Board of
Trustees will be Tuesday, June 21 at the Spencer
Campus of Iowa Lakes.
