WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ATHLETES NAMED TO ALL REGION

Three Iowa Lakes Community College women’s basketball players have been honored for their outstanding athleticism by being named to the NJCAA Region XI All-Region Team.

Lacey Geitzenauer, a 6’0” post player from Lone Rock, was named to the First Team All-Region following regional tournament action in Cedar Rapids last week.  Geitzenauer is a sophomore.

“Lacey was a force inside all season and she was consistent all season.  She averaged 16.8 points per game (second in the league), 6.3 rebounds and shooting 71 percent from the free throw line,” said Iowa Lakes’ Women’s Basketball head coach, Brian Radtke.

Named to the Second Team All-Region was Tina Geisler.  Geisler (a sophomore) is a 5’11” forward from Racine, Wisc.

“Tina did a great job both inside and outside the lane.  She averaged 12 points per game, 6.1 rebounds/game, 33 percent from the 3-point line, and 72 percent from the free throw line,” said Coach Radtke.

Selected to the Honorable Mention Team All-Region was Erin.  The 5’7” guard from Cedar Rapids is a sophomore.

“Erin did a great job at the point guard spot,” said Radtke.  “She lead the league in both assists (5.8 per game) and steals (2.9 per game).  She also averaged 8 points a game and shot 33 percent from the 3-point line.”

After the tournament last weekend at Cedar Rapids, Lacey and Erin were named to the All-Tournament Team. Lacey averaged 16 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game.  Erin Jones averaged 17 points per game, 5.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game.  “They both had three great tournament games,” said Radtke.

The Laker women went 9-5 on the season in the region and 21-11 overall.
