IOWA LAKES WOMEN’S BASKETBALL REGIONAL ACTION

Iowa Lakes Community College women’s basketball team heads into regional action this weekend in Cedar Rapids ranked as the third seed.

The Laker women are 9-5 in the conference and 19 and 10 overall. They will play at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 5, against sixth seeded North Iowa Area Community College which is 4 and 10 in the conference and 17-12 overall.

When the teams met earlier in the season, Iowa Lakes won 66-55 in December; the second game the Laker women won on their home court 79-48 in February.

Region XI action continues on Sunday with the winners of Saturday’s games playing against each other to whittle the field to the top two teams. Those squads will play for the Region XI Championship on Tuesday, March 8, at the “home court” of the highest seeded team remaining in the competition.

The Laker women’s squad is coached by Brian Radtke, who recently coached his 100th career victory with the Lakers. Team members include: Ashley Kokesch, guard, freshman, Franklin, Minn.; Nicole Lunning, guard, freshman, Forest City; Angie Gottsleben, guard, sophomore, Brandon, S.D.; Jamie Gerdes, forward, freshman, Forest City; Kelly Reinders, forward, sophomore, Milford; Lacey Geitzenauer, post, sophomore, Lone Rock; Paris Williams, forward, freshman, Champlin, Minn.; Erin Jones, guard, sophomore, Cedar Rapids; Tina Geisler, forward, sophomore, Racine, Wis.; Angie Hoff, post, sophomore, Brandon, S.D.; Stacie Dirks, post, freshman, Mountain Lake, Minn.
