IOWA LAKES STUDENTS RANK IN
THE TOP 10 AT SKILLSUSA NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Students from the Iowa Lakes Community College
chapter of SkillsUSA once again made the annual
trip to the national SkillsUSA Conference – and
came home winners.
The Iowa Lakes students joined more than 4,600
students from across the nation at the
Leadership and Skills Conference held in Kansas
City, Mo., June 20-24.
“All six of the students who attended the
conference placed extremely well,” said Stacy
Bohl, general advisor for the Iowa Lakes
chapter.
Earlier in the week it was announced that Kelly
Teeselink of Burt and Josh Becker of Algona
brought home a gold medal in the high school
division of the Television (Video) Production
competition. Jason Feld of Swea City earned a
silver medal in Marine Service Technology at the
College/Postsecondary level.
Casey Cook of Carroll placed 6th in the Power
Equipment Technology competition, Andrew Staton
of Alta placed 7th in Motorcycle Service
Technology and Shea Levisay placed 8th in
Collision Repair. Cook, Staton and Levisay all
competed in the College/Post Secondary division
and will graduate from Iowa Lakes Community
College in July from the Motorcycle & Small
Engine Technology Program and Auto Collision &
Paint Technology Program respectively.
“Our students should be proud to have
accomplished what they did, making it to the
national conference is an honor by itself and
placing in the top 10 is outstanding,” Bohl
said.
SkillsUSA is a national organization serving
approximately 250,000 high school, college
students and professional members who are
