MIDWEST WIRELESS AWARDS GRANT
TO IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE
A
grant from the Community Caring Program of
Midwest Wireless has helped Iowa Lakes Community
College’s Allied Health programs secure an
outstanding speaker for the Laker Health
Conference held recently.
“We are pleased to accept this $1,000 grant from
Midwest Wireless,” said Rosie Coleman, Health
Programmer and chief organizer of the
conference.
“Continuing education is a vital part of
healthcare that keeps professionals abreast on
changes and trends in the industry.”
The grant money was used for the first-ever
continuing education health conference for
nurses in various fields of healthcare to help
defray the cost of the keynote speaker, Jackie
Pflug, a victim of a terrorist hijacking.
“The mission of Iowa Lakes Community College is
to provide lifelong learning and promote
economic development for our communities,”
Coleman added. “The continuing education
offerings contribute to the lifelong learning
continuum through the development of quality,
affordable professional programs such as our
Laker Health Conference.”
The Community Caring Program of Midwest Wireless
provides resources to organizations and
endeavors with unquestioned integrity that
effectively improves the quality of life of the
people served. Since the primary focus of the
program is quality of life, projects and
programs supported include primary, secondary
and postsecondary education, as well as
scholarships at all postsecondary levels. In
addition, community development and personal
leadership development is also supported.
Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis and are
considered only through the application process.
