IOWA LAKES JAZZ CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The last day of competition in the 30th
Annual Jazz Band Contest at Iowa Lakes Community
College has been completed. Winners from today
are listed below:
Class 2A
1.
Prairie Valley High School – Deb Fritcher,

3. Woodward - Granger High School –
Ted Heggen & Jerry Peoples, Directors
Fifteen bands competed in Thursday’s
competition. Over the three days of
competition, 46 bands from 41 schools competed
for the top three places in each of five
divisions. Each band was evaluated by a team of
professional jazz musicians who recognized
outstanding performances and offered tips for
improvement.
The goal of the Iowa Lakes Jazz Band competition
is to allow students to test their jazz skills
against other high schools prior to regional and
state contests.
