HOMECOMING PLANNED AT IOWA
LAKES
Students at Iowa Lakes Community College will
celebrate homecoming later this month.
Throughout the week (Jan. 17-22) students will
celebrate the theme of “Get ‘er Done” wearing
“Laker Wear” and participating in fun
activities. There will also be community
activities.
There will be three days for basketball games, a
coffee house featuring the talents of music
students as well as a dance for students.
The basketball games will be free to all area
students (K through 12th grade). The first
contest of the week will be a women’s game
starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 17 against
Sioux Falls JV.
The coffee house will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Jan. 18, at the Estherville Campus in the Max O.
Pelzer Student Center. Vocal and instrumental
students will offer a variety of entertainment
that evening. This event if free and open to the
public. Those attending will be able to enjoy an
ice cream social.
On Wednesday night, Jan. 19, students and other
members of the public are welcome to help “pack
the gym” during the two games against Iowa
Central Community College. The Laker Women’s
game will start at 5:30 p.m. and the Laker Men
will play at 7:30 p.m. The Iowa Lakes Alumni and
Friends Association will offer a “tailgate” meal
of pizza, bars, pop and coffee for $4 per
person. Serving will be from 5 – 7:30 p.m. That
evening the Iowa Lakes Singers and the Iowa
Lakes Jazz Band will perform during the women’s
halftime. Bingo will be sponsored by the Iowa
Lakes Alumni & Friends and the Iowa Lakes Jazz
Band will perform during the men’s halftime.
During the evening, students may get their face
painted (or receive a temporary tattoo) by the
Iowa Lakes Biology and Art clubs. In addition,
the Iowa Lakes Bookstore will be selling Laker
apparel.
On Saturday, Jan. 22, the Laker Men will play at
6 p.m. against Clinton. Halftime entertainment
will include the Iowa Lakes Jazz & Alumni Band,
and the winners of the dorm and window
decorating contests will be announced. During
the evening, students may get their face painted
(or receive a temporary tattoo) by the Iowa
Lakes Biology and Art clubs.
