IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE AWARDS FOREST RIDGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Iowa Lakes Community College has awarded the 2004-05 Forest Ridge Scholarships to recipients John Schneider and Amy Barie of Estherville, Heidi Lotz of Pocahontas and Chelsie Eckerman of Spirit Lake.

Attending the Estherville Campus as full time students - Schneider, Barie and Eckerman are enrolled in the Criminal Justice Program and Lotz is a social work transfer student. After graduating in May 2005, Barie, Eckerman and Lotz plan to transfer to four-year institutions to pursue degrees in their chosen fields. Schneider will also seek a four-year degree in Criminal Justice upon his graduation in May 2006.

“This award means so much financially and will allow me to concentrate on my academics,” said Eckerman.

Lotz stated, “Thank you to Forest Ridge for supporting students at Iowa Lakes, it is very nice to not be under a constant financial burden while attending college.”

The Forest Ridge Scholarship will be awarded to full-time students in their second year of college enrolled in Iowa Lakes’ Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice/Correction, Human Services/Disability Studies, Early Childhood Education or Sociology/Social Work transfer studies. Students must have attained and maintain a 2.0 GPA and show an interest in community service activities.

Those wishing to apply for – or establish - scholarships should contact Shan Ray at the Iowa Lakes Community College Institutional Advancement / Foundations Office at 712-362-0491 or 800-242-5106 ext. 491.
