IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE AWARDS DEWALL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Iowa Lakes Community College has awarded the 2004-05 Albert DeWall and Emma DeWall Peterson Memorial Scholarship to recipient Daniel Rathe of Dunkerton.

Rathe is enrolled full time in the Iowa Lakes Community College Wind Energy and Turbine Technology Program at the Estherville Campus. Upon his graduation in May 2006 he plans to transfer to Iowa State University for a degree in engineering.

“This award will assist in alleviating the financial burden of my college education. It is gratifying to have the support of the communities and donors of scholarships such as this that want to see me succeed,” said Rathe.

This scholarship was established by Estherville Junior College alumna Barbara Whitish Kuyper in memory of her uncle Albert DeWall and aunt Emma DeWall Peterson. Albert and Emma grew up on a farm near Estherville and were lifelong residents of the area. This need- based scholarship is open to students enrolled in Iowa Lakes’ career option, vocational or technical programs. Applicants must reside in the state of Iowa and possess and maintain a GPA in good standing.
