ARTS ON GRAND TO HOST MONKEY
WRENCH QUILT EXHIBIT
Arts on Grand will be hosting a Monkey Wrench
Quilt Exhibit from Jan. 25-Mar. 6.
Through the centuries and especially in recent
decades, individual expression and innovation
have been fundamental to quilting.
In 1993, the Museum of the American Quilter’s
Society (MAQS) developed an annual contest and
exhibition to recognize both originality and
tradition. The purpose of the contest is to
“challenge quilt makers to develop innovative
quilts from a different traditional pattern.”
Each fall quilts are chosen from slide entries,
juried for awards, and then appear at MAQS as an
exhibition the following spring. The exhibition
then travels to other museums for two years,
providing opportunities for quilters and the
general public to view these stunning quilts.
Arts on Grand is located at 408 Grand Avenue,
Spencer.
