IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE
AWARDS ALLIANT ENERGY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
Iowa Lakes Community College has awarded the
2004-05 Alliant Energy Foundation Scholarship to
recipient Matthew Spies of Spirit Lake. This
scholarship was established by the Alliant
Energy Foundation in 2004.
Spies, a full-time, non-traditional student,
attends the Estherville Campus. He returned to
school to facilitate a career change. Upon his
graduation in May 2006 he plans to enter the
wind energy field.
“I would like to thank Alliant Energy for
initiating this award. It not only eases my
financial burden of returning to college, but
exhibits what great opportunities can happen for
students and the college when local businesses
get involved,” said Spies.
An eligible candidate for this scholarship must
be a full-time Iowa Lakes Community College
student enrolled in the Wind Energy and Turbine
Technology Program, demonstrate financial need
and be an Alliant Energy customer or dependent
of a customer.
Those interested in applying for this
scholarship, or in establishing a scholarship
are asked to contact Shan Ray, Iowa Lakes
Institutional Advancement / Foundations Office
Executive Director, at 712-362-0491 or
