IOWA LAKES SOFTBALL SIGNS ARIZONA STANDOUT
Tuesday, January 18th was the NJCAA national
signing date for Division II softball and Iowa
Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach Mike
Bosch has announced the signing of an Arizona
infielder to a National Junior College letter of
intent. Sylvia Leon, an infielder from Tucson,
Ariz., has made Iowa Lakes her future home to
play softball.
Leon was an honorable mention Louisville Slugger
All-American selection while playing for the
Marana Tigers, batting .365 with 12 stolen
bases. She was a four time lettermen in softball
and was the team’s MVP last season. Leon was
also on the Tucson Bandit ASA team which
qualified for ASA nationals last season.
Leon is the daughter of Jerry and Monica Leon
and intends to pursue a career in broadcasting.
“Sylvia is a special player who brings speed and
athleticism to our team,” commented Coach Bosch.
“She is a great leader and will bring a number
of positive attributes that will greatly improve
our team next season. We are thrilled to have
her in Laker blue and gold in 2006. I see her
making an immediate impact on what should be a
very good team next fall.”
Leon joins a Laker program that went 37-22 last
season and finished ranked #14 in the final
