IOWA LAKES STUDENTS ADVANCE
TO NATIONAL COMPETITION IN NEW YORK

Two Iowa Lakes Community College students
will advance to National Competition next
month following an excellent showing at
state.
Brad Greene of Webb and Troy Block of
Ocheyedan placed second in the PAS
(Postsecondary Agriculture Student
Organization) competition for community
college students. Both students are
sophomores in the Farm Equipment and Diesel
Technology program at Iowa Lake Community
College. |

Greene was top in the state in the written
exam and parts competition. He scored 203
points.
Greene and Block work as a team “all the
time.” |

will advance to national competition
in mid-March. |
They
both selected Iowa Lakes Community College for
specific reasons.
“It was
the closest college that offered what I wanted,”
said Block. “I like the diagnostic work.”
“You
get more hands-on training at Iowa Lakes Community
College,” Greene said.
The
national contest will be March 14-18 in Albany,
New York. Looking ahead to the national
competition, Greene and Block don’t think they’ll
do anything differently.
Greene
says he’ll stick to his “regular routine” and “go
like it’s another day at work.”
Both
students will graduate this spring. Students in
the Farm Equipment and Diesel Technology receive
an Associate in Applied Science degree upon
graduation.
Block
is the son of Doug and Danette Block of Ocheyedan.
Greene
is the son of Ben and Karen Greene of Webb.
