TWO
COLLEGE GOLFERS COMPLETE FIRST ROUND
Two Iowa Lakes
Community College women golfers have finished their first round
of play at the national championship played at the Halifax
Plantation Golf Course in Florida this week.
Sarah Hohensee shot a
97; while Christy McEntee came in with a 106 at the National
Junior College Athletic Association's National Tournament in
Daytona Beach, Fla.
"We started out early this morning and conditions were extremely
windy," said Jason Vande Brake, Athletic Director at Iowa
Lakes. "It's a very difficult course - there are a lot of hills
on the greens. Play went a lot faster throughout the day as the
morning dew dried up. And, there's even a lot higher scores
being shot (than what) Sarah and Christy shot."
The Laker women play
again tomorrow with tee times at 9:15 and 9:22 a.m. Play
continues through Thursday.
The 2004 tournament kicked off on Sunday night with a Survivor
Banquet. This is the eighth year in a row Iowa Lakes has
advanced golfers to the National Tourney.
